The 74 Ranch Resort has a rich history that goes back generations. Originally part of the legendary 50,000-acre 7PL Ranch, this land was owned by Texas oilman J.S. “Mr. Jim” Abercrombie. When the 7PL Ranch was split in 1951, Mr. Jim let his longtime partner, Dan Harrison, draw the line for the division, then Mr. Jim simply chose his half. That piece of land became the 74 Ranch, and the rest, as they say, is history.

For over 30 years, we’ve managed the ranch exclusively for hunting. We don’t run cattle here, and haven’t for decades, because we believe in providing the best hunting and shooting experience possible. Livestock and hunting just don’t mix well. Our focus is on quality game, top-tier habitat management, and giving every guest an unforgettable experience.
